At sixteen, her father was killed. She and her sisters had to provide for themselves and their legally blind mother. The youngest was sold into slavery and Mariya, the second youngest was sold a rich American man as a bride. At nineteen, she moved to California with this stranger she had only known through letters. The first year was typical. She gave her virginity to him and took care of every aspect of the household. After the first year, Thomas began to get violent. Her english was never superb and it fueled his anger. In a slow poisoning process, Mariya eventually extracted the abusive husband problem from her life. Investigation never followed through or pointed toward the immigrant wife. Only now she had a new problem. His assets weren't in her name. They all went to an estranged son and left Mariya back at zero. Working her way up was difficult. She found the easiest way to earn quick cash. Prostitution, waitressing, house cleaning and eventually landed a starring role at a gentleman's club. From there, she took over a girlfriend's client list as a drug dealer.

Jazlene is highly determined and sassy. She is known for her cleverness and intelligence. Even though Jazlene may come off as someone who is strong-willed and will be highly sarcastic, she does have some bad sides. Jazlene is easily defeated and has an overcompensation problem. She is quite random and philosophical at times. Always randomly saying a quote or two where she sees fits. Jazlene is also known to be very motherly and caring to people she respects. Otherwise she’ll treat you like any other customer. Always self-sacrificing herself just to see another smile. She loves dancing and helping others as much as possible. Even if her help isn’t really needed or necessary, it’s the thought that counts. She has a sort of dominant and leadership role. She likes to be in control. She loves to take care of others and please others as well. She is always lending a helping hand to a friend in need. She likes to be goofy and just be herself around people she can trust. She can be quite honest and bossy sometimes.

Jazlene has a sort of cool demeanor about herself. So she may be way past a virgin and have really low morals and standards. She still worries about her health and well-being as well as the health and well-being of others. Jazlene has a sort of carefree and relaxed sort of air about herself. She can seem threatening at times and she does back that up when needed. Living in the streets and having a bad past prepared her for many unknowns. She quick on her feet when needed and can pack a mean punch. Since her occupations are pretty underground and ~~illegal~~, she has developed street smarts on how to stay on the down low as well as some quicker reflexes.

Since Jazlene grew up from a poor community, she has become obsessed with looking for symptoms that could mean worse. Whatever normal imperfection happened to her, she would assume that it is a sign to mean something far worse. For example, if she obtained a cut, it's obvious that she is going to get some raging disease, such as Hepatitis. Headaches equal brain tumors, stomach aches are tapeworms and even forgetting things means she has Alzheimer's. Many diseases and bacteria has become a fear for her. She's constantly reading up on health, and being OCD about certain things such as washing hands, using contraceptives during sex, knowing all about the food she eats. Jazlene is also very anal when it comes to public places such as public restrooms, in fear of retaining any disease that might be floating about. It is enough to drive her up a wall.
